Rasberry Cream Cheese Rolls

A couple of weeks ago I posted some pictures of Raspberry Cream Cheese Rolls that I took several different recipes and made my own. I have to warn you, these have been called "the highly addictive rolls" by several people in my family.

Oatmeal Bread Dough Recipe

1 package active dry yeast

1/4 c warm water

2/3 c scalded milk

1/4 c sugar

1 tsp salt

1/4 c butter

2 1/2 c all purpose flour

1 egg beaten

1 c quick oats

zest of 1 orange

Cream Cheese Filling Recipe

8 oz softened cream cheese

2 TB softened butter

1/4 c sugar

1/8 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

1 1/2 tsp lemon juice

1 Can Raspberry pie filling or homemade raspberry freezer jam

Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

8 oz softened cream cheese

1/2 c butter

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp lemon juice

1 TB milk

3 c confectioners sugar

Directions for the Dough:

1. Scald milk

2. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 c warm water

3. Pour scalded milk over sugar, salt, butter; cool to lukewarm

4. Stir in 1 c of flour and the beaten egg

5. Add yeast-water mixture

6. Add oats and orange peel

7. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough

8. Turn dough out onto floured surface and knead until smooth

9. Place in a greased bowl, turning to grease top

10. Cover and let rise in warm draft-free place until doubled in bulk

11. Punch down and let rest of 10 minutes (while waiting make the cream cheese filling mixture)

12. Divide dough in half

13. With half the dough roll it out to a 9 x 12 rectangle (I don't measure I just do until it looks right)

14. Spread with 1/2 the cream cheese filling mixture and then with about 1/2 c to 2/3 c of the raspberry pie filling.

15. Roll up along the long edge and pinch edge to seal

16. Spray a 13 x 9 cake pan with Pam or butter

17. Cut the roll in about 1 in rounds and place cut side up in the baking pan. (this is really messy, the raspberry and the filling will try to squeeze out just do the best that you can)

18. Repeat from step 13 with the remaining half of dough.

19. Cover and let rise in a warm draft-free place for 30-45 minutes until doubled

20. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

21. Cool slightly and frost with cream cheese frosting.

22. Enjoy!

YW Fort Night

We had one of the best activities ever this week. We had a Fort Night. All the young women brought sheets and blankets and pillows, the leaders brought some ladder and stools and we built a fort just like you do when you are a kid. We got all the girls into the fort where we had a fake fire and we talked about Moroni and how he fortified the cities that were weak, how they did it, why they did it etc... We talked about fortifying ourselves against Satan and things he uses to break us down. The Bishop came in a talked with us for a few minutes about the battles in Alma how the Nephites prepared and how the Lamanites prepared and what was different. We talked about our lives and how we must be spiritually prepared for the wars that Satan has waged on us. We then had treats and talked. To end the night we got all the girls out of the fort. Since the theme for this year is in Joshua we talked about Joshua and the defeat of Jericho. We talked about the faith it must have taken to follow what Heavenly Father had told him to do when it seemed so simple. We then marched around our fort 7 times and then blew horns and yelled like they did and knocked our fort down. It was a wonderful evening full of learning and great bonding moments with the girls!

What a wonderful activity! Thanks Laurel for treating us to a wonderful night!

Cranberry Orange Bread

So I have made this cranberry orange bread about 8-10 times since November and every time I make it I get rave reviews and comments that I should make it again. I double the recipe and I get 2 med loaves and a pan of mini muffins. When I get caught up on my blog I will post the recipe, it is so good. The fresh cranberries make it very tart the pecans make it really nutty and the combination is to die for! Well worth a try as it is pretty easy and well worth the effort.

YW New Beginnings

A couple of weeks ago we had our New Beginning's program. It was an amazing program. The MiaMaids did the refreshments, we had cupcakes and eclairs with the frosting in value colors. I think it was wonderful. The program was great, we then had a balloon activity where the girls write what they will have the courage to do this year and then they put it into the balloon and let them go. It was a great night. Thanks Kim for putting it all together we were spiritually fed and enlighten.

The food, we did!

Balloon Station ready for the girls to make their commitments.

The set-up in the chapel with the Values and the colors. Donna made wonderful sign and the balloon carried over for a wonderful transition.

Here are the girls releasing their balloons.

Game Night

So over the Holiday's I decided that we had so much fun playing games that we would start a game night at our house. I told everyone it would be the 3rd Friday of the month and guess what last night was??? We had family and friends over and it was so much fun, I can't wait until next month.

Laurel, mom, Clara, LaNece, Evets, Terry

LaNece and Clara!
Maylin and Tatum playing the Wii

Clara, chomping on licorice she really liked it!
Garrett having mom unwrap chocolate for him and stuffing his mouth! It was so cute.

We learned how to play for Farkle, a dice game that we had so much fun playing. Here I am trying to decide what to do. Big decisions can be hard to make especially when you are not winning.

Jonathan kicked our butts the last round. The dice only went around the table six times and he won. He was on a roll and kicked our butts!

This is LaNece trying to add to Jonathan's luck

Here is mom trying to add to LaNece and Jonathan's luck!

Here is me after the last round. Jonathan kicked my butt and I had an all time low score of ZERO!

Young Womens New Era Bowl

We have a tradition in our ward of doing a New Era bowl. We have the kids read the New Era from the month before and then we have a game show format with questions. The kids seem to like it and they learn a lot!

Everyone gearing up to start!
Karley, Sierra and Sister Hill nice face.

Jeremy and the young men kept us entertained.

Sister Wade and Brother Bingham were the "Official Judges"!

Brother Christensen was the game show host!

The girls also kept us entertained and laughing all the way.

Suprise Party

We had a surprise 40th Birthday Party for my aunt Julie. Aubrey made 40 cupcakes and we got pasta salads from The Pub. Greg had taken Julie to a movie and dinner. We waited for about 45 minutes at there house while people arrived and chatted while waiting for the guest of honor to arrive.

When she finally arrived and walked in she knew someone was there and it freaked her out a little bit but we yelled Suprise and she turned on the lights and was a little upset, which we thought she would be.

She then turned and hugged Greg and we knew that it would be ok that she would not be too mad or upset!

Julie greeting the guests
They made this fun sign for her it was amazing!
